ARTIST BRUSHES Over the years, artist brushes have taken on their own terminology. "Brights" are short, square end brushes. "Flats" are similar to brights, but have longer hair or bristle. "Rounds" are completely round with pointed ends. "Natural hairs" are either sable or ox hair. "Camel hair" is any hair that is not sable or oxen. "Synthetics" most frequently are nylon, and "bristle" is always hog bristle.
